(Baonghean.vn) - Unable to seize clear opportunities in the match against U22 Thailand, U22 Vietnam paid a heavy price at the 29th SEA Games.

Line-up

U22 Vietnam: Minh Long, Van Thanh, Van Khanh, Tien Dung, Van Hau, Van Toan, Xuan Truong, Tuan Anh, Cong Phuong, Hong Duy, Tuan Tai.

Thailand U22: Muangngam, Suriya, Worawut Namvech, Saringkan, Maikami, Nopphon, Sasalak, Worachit, Phitiwat, Chenrop Samphaodi, Phicha.

Right in the first minutes, U22 Thailand demonstrated its strength with a long-range shot that hit goalkeeper Phi Minh Long's goal. This was a punch to save the ball by the goalkeeper of U22 Vietnam and signaled a difficult match.

In the following minutes, Thailand was still the team that controlled the ball better and created more opportunities. Meanwhile, U22 Vietnam was still stuck in approaching the opponent's goal. The passing and diverse attacking style of coach Huu Thang's students was not promoted until Tuan Tai had a chance to face goalkeeper Muangngam in the 43rd minute. From the counterattack, Van Toan passed the ball up to Tuan Tai for a chance to finish. However, unfortunately, his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper before the ball hit the post.

Right in the first half's injury time, the score was opened for Thailand thanks to a puzzling decision by the Chinese referee. Starting from Tuan Anh's defensive support, the referee thought that goalkeeper Minh Long had made a mistake when holding the ball up. Before the indirect free kick, number 16 Phitiwat easily opened the score 1-0 to close the first 45 minutes.

Not long into the second half, the unstable mentality of the game caused goalkeeper Phi Minh Long to continue to make mistakes when outside the penalty area in the 52nd minute, player Au-tra helped U22 Thailand score the second goal too simply. Losing 2 goals quickly made difficulties pile up for U22 Vietnam.

In the following minutes, Coach Huu Thang's players still could not hold the ball. Meanwhile, U22 Thailand was still in control of the game. With more than 40 minutes left, Quang Hai was brought in to strengthen the attack, replacing Hong Duy. However, the Vietnamese players were mentally stressed and often made mistakes.

The best chance came in the 65th minute when Quang Hai, who had just entered the field, brought a penalty for U22 Vietnam. It was unbelievable that Cong Phuong shot the ball over the bar. A missed shot only added to the sadness of the home fans.

In the 68th minute, the nightmare of Vietnamese fans did not stop when Thailand's Phitiwat surpassed Van Hau and defeated Phi Minh Long, raising the score to 3-0. When the game was lost, coach Huu Thang sent the remaining two strikers, Thanh Binh and Duc Chinh, onto the field. However, U22 Vietnam's efforts to score an honorary goal could not come true.

At the end of the match, U22 Vietnam lost 0-3 to Thailand and was officially eliminated from the 29th SEA Games. Because in the match at the same time, U22 Indonesia defeated Cambodia with a score of 2-0 and closed the group stage with 11 points./.
