Provincial Party Secretary directs dike protection during storm
(Baonghean.vn)- The eye of the storm did not enter Nghe An, but strong winds combined with high tides put many sea dykes in Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai, and Dien Chau at risk of breaking. This afternoon, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh was present in vulnerable areas to direct dike protection.

This afternoon (September 15), Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh and Deputy Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong, and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong held a quick meeting at the headquarters of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to direct the work of preventing storm No. 10.
After grasping the situation of the storm's path, the status of the sea dike and dams, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh requested that relevant units under the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue assign people to be on duty regularly, ensure smooth information, and promptly update information on the storm's path to have appropriate prevention solutions.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested to focus on timely reinforcement of eroded sea dykes; at the same time, closely monitor water levels of dams and rainfall, to prevent flash floods in mountainous areas.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong also requested standing agencies to promptly update the situation in localities to have proactive response plans, especially dike protection work and water levels in dams in the province.

Next, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh inspected the situation of the sea dike in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district.
Here, due to high tides combined with wind, the waves rose high, and many sections of water overflowed the dike from nearly 12 noon on September 15, flooding residential areas. Identifying this as a vulnerable area, Quynh Luu district evacuated more than 200 households to safety. At some points where the dike had collapsed, forces were organized to promptly handle the situation.

The Provincial Party Secretary and the working delegation inspected the situation in Hoang Mai town. Accordingly, about 100 hectares of shrimp farms of the town's residents were flooded; at the same time, in Quynh Phuong ward, a section of the sea dike under construction was washed away by waves near people's houses.

Arriving directly at the scene, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh directed the functional forces to actively carry out dike protection work, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property; at the same time, he said that the province will prioritize resources to improve dikes in key areas./.
