Growing grass for dairy farms earns hundreds of millions of dong each year

(Baonghean.vn) - Operating for more than 10 years in Dong Hieu commune, Thai Hoa town, Vinamilk dairy farm has had close links with farmers in production and breeding.Notably, the model of allocating land for farmers to grow grass to provide food for cows.

Ms. Le Thi Nhung in Dong Thanh hamlet, Dong Hieu commune, grows more than 2 hectares of milkweed. This is one of the households with a large area of ​​grass in Dong Thanh hamlet. Each year, she grows 3 crops of grass, and after deducting expenses, Ms. Nhung's family's income reaches over 100 million VND.

"My family's economy has improved significantly since growing milkweed to supply the dairy farm. We are very excited that the farm always has companionship and connection with the people" - Ms. Nhung shared.

Mr. Duong Van Chuong - a household growing grass for a livestock farm said that his family is currently growing 2 hectares of high-yield grass to sell to the farm as feed for cows; each year, he earns over 100 million VND. In addition, he has bought 2 tractors to plow the land for hire and transport grass for people in the area to import to Vinamilk farm; on average, he earns 40 - 50 million VND per month.

Dong Thanh hamlet, Dong Hieu commune has 60 households growing grass for the farm, the economic life of the hamlet has improved significantly. Vinamilk's dairy farm has provided jobs for dozens of hamlet workers to work on the farm...
