US President Donald Trump signed a disaster declaration for the state of Texas on the evening of August 25 as Hurricane Harvey prepared to make landfall, emphasizing that the government would mobilize all forces to provide emergency support to the state, according toPolitico.
"At the request of the Governor of Texas, I have signed a disaster declaration, which opens up the federal government to full support for the state," Trump tweeted.
Previously, the US National Hurricane Center warned that Hurricane Harvey had been upgraded to level 4/5, expected to make landfall in Texas on the night of August 25 with winds of up to 208 km/h.
The White House said federal aid includes funding for home hardening and repairs, low-interest loans to help people cover uninsured property losses, and programs to help individuals and business owners recover from natural disasters.

According toReutersHurricane Harvey caused landslides in the area between Port Aransas and Port O'Connor, Texas at around 10 p.m. and is forecast to continue bringing heavy rain to the state and parts of Louisiana over the next few days.
