The Old Trafford team recruited Spanish U18 midfielder Arnau Puigmal from Espanyol.

Puigmal, 16, came through the Espanyol academy and impressed Manchester United scouts while playing for the club's youth team. He is a member of Spain's U18 team.

Man Utd signed Puigmal in July, but the transfer was delayed due to legal procedures related to international clearing.

The 2017 summer transfer window closed a few days ago and Man Utd did not announce any new signings after recruiting Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic. The contract with Puigmal, therefore, was kept secret.

Arnau Puigmal announced the news on his personal Instagram account. He posted a photo with Man Utd legend Andy Cole, U18 coach Kieran McKenna and announced that he had become a Man Utd player. The English team, meanwhile, has yet to make an official statement.

"I am very proud and happy to announce that I have become a Man Utd player. This is a dream come true. Now it is time to work hard. Let's go Red Devils," Puigmal wrote.

Puigmal was voted the most valuable player at the Mediterranean International Cup, a youth tournament that recently took place. This is a tournament that Lionel Messi has participated in.
