“If the enemy carries out provocative actions at sea or underwater, we will immediately respond by burying them under the sea,” General Choi Young-chan, commander of the 13th Naval Strike Group, stressed.
The South Korean Navy also plans to conduct a four-day strike group training exercise starting on September 6 in waters south of the country. More than 10 vessels, including the frigate and the 2,500-ton submarine Chungbuk, as well as P-3C Orion maritime reconnaissance aircraft and Lynx multi-role aircraft, will participate in the training. F-15K fighter jets and a CN-235 transport aircraft of the South Korean Air Force will also participate in the training.

On September 3, North Korea continued to raise concerns in the international community when it conducted its sixth nuclear test, which it said could be upgraded to a long-range missile. Late on September 4, US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in agreed in a phone call to remove the limit on the amount of explosives that can be placed on South Korean missiles, which was set at 500 kg under a 2001 bilateral agreement. The US president said he was ready to approve the deal to “purchase billions of dollars worth of weapons and military equipment between the two countries”./.
