Orientation to build Vinh University to become a multidisciplinary university of the region

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 23, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee organized a collective working program to give opinions on the restructuring policy of Vinh University.

Vinh University is one of 20 universities identified by the Ministry of Education and Training to build a national key university. From a single-disciplinary university model, it has become a multidisciplinary university; training both teachers and engineers.

In response to the general development requirements of the country, the North Central region, Nghe An province and international integration, Vinh University is oriented to restructure according to a new school model, including affiliated universities with professional autonomy and financial autonomy, but with a common administrative apparatus (currently, Vinh University only has a Pedagogical Practice School and a Specialized High School, but no affiliated universities). The immediate roadmap is to establish an Institute, then upgrade it to affiliated universities.

Commenting on the draft presented by Rector Dinh Xuan Khoa on the restructuring direction of Vinh University, delegates directly participated in many specific opinions on development orientation; choosing restructuring model; operating mechanisms, organization, finance, management...

Comrade Le Quang Huy said: The model that Vinh University has chosen for restructuring is a new model, so when it is put into practice, it must truly become a model in the university system nationwide. The restructuring process will pose challenges, so the school needs to clarify the challenges, thereby proposing solutions to solve the problems clearly and specifically, including ideological work, creating consensus. The direction of the school is to focus on improving the quality of training and scientific research; must aim to meet the human resources of society and integration.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board Nguyen Huu Lam raised the issue: The development direction of Vinh University needs to focus on promoting the strength of pedagogical training associated with investment directions and solutions to develop key, high-quality professions.

Agreeing with the views of comrades Nguyen Xuan Duong and Nguyen Huu Lam, Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi said: Vinh University needs to aim to become a "main machine" in training quality teachers; a teacher training center in the whole country, especially training integrated teachers, fostering and improving the quality of teachers for the industry.

Referring to the teaching staff of Vinh University, which are basically teachers of pedagogy, besides the advantages, there are also issues that need attention. Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies, Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, expressed her opinion: In the restructuring process, the school should pay attention to solutions to innovate thinking and make more breakthroughs in the team; at the same time, there should be solutions to reduce staff; focus on training associated with the socio-economic development of the province, especially accompanying the cause of agricultural development.

Giving his opinion at the meeting, basically agreeing with the policy of restructuring Vinh University, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, emphasized: The development direction of Nghe An is to become the center of the North Central region and Vinh University must also be identified as a multidisciplinary university in the North Central region.

The Provincial Party Secretary also said: The current training goals and structure of the school are not reasonable, not really meeting the human resource needs of the province. Therefore, the training structure needs to be more focused and focused, in which priority is given to strengths. To determine strengths, the school needs to invest in investigating and surveying actual needs as well as social trends; from there, it is necessary to set out a clear strategy, determine the model, occupational structure, and training focus that is focused and flexible and reasonable.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh also suggested that the school pay attention to the goal of improving the quality of education, meeting the human resource needs of the province in particular, the region and the country in general. Also this morning, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee also listened to and gave opinions on the content of the suggested review in the spirit of Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (term XII); on the classification of cadres under the management of the Provincial Party Committee and discussed cadre work under its authority.
