VFF sets salary at 20,000 USD/month, will it be difficult for Kiatisuk to lead the Vietnamese team?
It is likely that VFF will find it difficult to pay more than 20,000 USD/month for the coach to lead the Vietnam national team; which means the possibility of Kiatisuk becoming the coach of the Vietnam national team is very low.
The most recent coaches of the Vietnamese national team did not receive a salary higher than 15,000 USD/month. The latest coach of the national team, Nguyen Huu Thang, receives a salary of 200 million VND/month, but Mr. Thang pays his own personal income tax.
Therefore, in the event that VFF raises the salary for foreign coaches to 20,000 USD/month, it can be considered a great effort by the governing body of Vietnamese football, in the context that VFF is not financially abundant. It should also be added that the salary of 20,000 USD/month mentioned above, if any, also includes a part of the support from the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.

Paying too much for a coach who has never been successful outside Thailand like Kiatisuk at this time is a big risk. |
And if we look at that salary, we believe that the possibility of Kiatisuk becoming the coach of the Vietnamese national team is very unlikely, stemming from the difference between the treatment that Kiatisuk received when he was the coach of the Thai national team, compared to the current payment capacity of the VFF.
When he was still leading the Golden Temple team, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) spent no less than 1.3 billion VND/month on "Thai Zico" and his assistants (equivalent to about 60,000 USD/month).
Compared to VFF, FAT's financial capacity is much better, thanks to FAT's better ability to exploit its image and brand, and the image and brand of Thai football itself are also higher than Vietnamese football, so it is easier for FAT to call for sponsorship for Thai football.
Although Kiatisuk has just failed with Thai Port Club in the Thai-League, "Thai Zico" himself is still a big brand in Thai football in particular and Southeast Asian football in general. Therefore, it is unlikely that Kiatisuk will accept a low salary.
Besides the position of coach of the Vietnamese national team, Kiatisuk still has many options in other places, because there are many clubs in Indonesia willing to pay very high salaries and treat the number 1 idol of Thai football well, if he agrees to work for them.
Previously, VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan shared that in case of choosing a satisfactory foreign coach, as well as one with high expertise, VFF still has a financial solution for the high salary of the foreign coach.
However, no matter how high the salary is, it cannot be beyond the reach of Vietnamese football and VFF, and first of all, to convince sponsors to support the salary of a foreign coach working for the national team, that foreign coach must truly create trust in terms of expertise. Meanwhile, if Kiatisuk is chosen as the coach of the Vietnamese team, at the present time, it is no different from a bet, because Kiatisuk has never been successful outside the borders of Thailand, as a coach.
