Expanding investigation into the transportation of 1,400 kg of ivory
After identifying the hard objects in the sacks as ivory, Bac Lieu police expanded the investigation into the illegal goods transportation to clarify their origin.
On the afternoon of September 24, the leader of Bac Lieu Provincial Police said that they are expanding the investigation into the case of transporting prohibited goods related to 49 bags of ivory on a truck. After examining the hard objects in the bags, the results were announced by the authorities to be 100% real ivory.

Currently, over 1.4 tons of ivory in dozens of bags are being held by the investigation agency. Whether this tusk will be destroyed or not has not been determined by the authorities.
As part of the extended investigation, authorities will clarify the origin and people involved in the ivory.
A week ago, the border guards coordinated with the police in Bac Lieu to catch a truck red-handed containing dozens of bags of what were believed to be contraband goods in Nha Mat ward (Bac Lieu city) in the early morning of September 17. The driver was Nguyen Thanh Long, 35 years old, residing in Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu.
According to investigators, over 1.4 tons of ivory were brought up from a boat anchored at Nha Mat estuary.
