The renowned stage comedian passed away at 5:20 AM on September 28th at his home after two days in critical condition due to a brain hemorrhage.

The body of comedian Khánh Nam is currently being kept at his private residence on Dã Tượng Street, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City.

On the evening of September 27th, after doctors announced that actor Khánh Nam's condition was beyond saving, his family took him home from People's Hospital 115. Previously, on the afternoon of September 26th, while traveling from Long An to Ho Chi Minh City after a performance, the comedian suffered a brain hemorrhage. He was rushed to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital for emergency treatment. Because the artist was still in critical condition, the doctors did not dare to perform surgery. After he was transferred to another hospital, doctors were unable to proceed with the operation due to the poor prognosis.

Many artists were shocked by the passing of the veteran comedian. Singer Phuong Thanh and actor Tien Luat bid him farewell on their personal pages. Singer Ngoc Linh sadly recounted that she had recently watched Khanh Nam perform with his adopted daughter, Khanh Nhi, in the "Sao Noi Ngoi Nhi" (Child Star Succession) program.

Artist Khánh Nam was born in 1964 in Long Khánh, Đồng Nai, his real name being Trần Minh Thành. In 1982, he dropped out of school and joined cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) troupes. Later, Khánh Nam became famous for his "street urchin" roles on the Saigon stage in plays such as "Who's the Doctor?" and "My Love Sells Candy." He created his own unique acting style with his hunched posture and quirky way of speaking.

In 2003, Khanh Nam formed a comedy group bearing his name, performing at various entertainment venues in Ho Chi Minh City with skits such as "Farewell to the Drunkard," "Whose Fault Is It?", "Medley of Three Eras," "The Case of the Ground Dove," etc. The Khanh Nam comedy group won first prize with the skit "Oh, Bunker, Bunker!" which he wrote and directed at the 2011 Green Smile Comedy Festival.

In 2012, while returning from a late-night performance, artist Khánh Nam was involved in a traffic accident when he swerved to avoid a pothole. He suffered a fractured pelvis and a broken left leg. At that time, artists such as Hoài Linh, Tấn Beo, Chí Tài, Hoàng Sơn, Nhật Cường, Cát Phượng, and others organized the "Helping Hands" program, donating a portion of the proceeds to support Khánh Nam.

Besides performing in the provinces, Khanh Nam occasionally participates in various comedy game shows. Recently, he supported his adopted daughter in participating in the 2017 Junior Star Succession program.
