Song reveals the risk of mental disorders

Research by American scientists shows that musical preferences indicate whether a person is at risk of personality disorder or not.

According to the New York Post, scientists from New York University (USA) played 260 songs to 200 volunteers and discovered that musical preferences were related to mental illness. Specifically, people with the most psychopathic traits often liked Blackstreet's No Diggity and Eminem's Lose Yourself. Meanwhile, fans of The Knack's My Sharona and Sia's Titanium had fewer unusual traits.

"The media often portrays people with personality disorders as serial killers, but that's not the case," said Pascal Wallisch, the study's lead author. "They're not like the Joker in Batman, they're sometimes right next to you, working and blending in with the crowd. The difference is that they have psychological darkness."

Scientists estimate that about 1% of the US population exhibits the full description of a personality disorder, and about one-fifth of prisoners are identified as having a psychological disorder.

Mr. Wallisch emphasized that the research is preliminary and inconclusive, but hopes that the initial findings will be a stepping stone to larger work that will identify cases of personality disorders.

Psychopathy, also known as psychopathy, is one of the most difficult disorders to detect. From the outside, people with psychopathy may appear normal, even attractive and charming. However, on the inside, they lack empathy and remorse, have aggressive personalities, are egotistical and exhibit persistent antisocial behavior.

Scientists have linked personality disorders to criminal behavior. Many famous serial killers, such as Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Dennis Rader, suffered from personality disorders.
