Since 2010, Hung Thang commune has built a model field (CĐM) to produce high-quality rice varieties AC5 and sticky rice DT52 with a scale of 30 hectares.

The head of Hung Thang Agricultural Cooperative - Mr. Phan Van Hien, said: Thanks to the application of advances in varieties and cultivation, the rice yield in CDM is 20-30 kg/sao higher than the control variety, reaching 65-70 quintals/ha in the spring crop, and 48-50 quintals/ha in the summer-autumn crop. Since then, Hung Thang has maintained 50 hectares of CDM each year, rotating through different areas and expanding the production area of high-quality rice varieties.

This summer-autumn crop, Hung Thang commune coordinated to build two more production models of new sticky rice SVN1 and improved Khang Dan rice, harvested before September 5 and yielded 46-50 quintals/ha.

Hung Tay commune is also a "famous" locality in producing high-quality rice varieties for the market. According to Mr. Le Dinh Ty - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, from the initial 15 hectares of model, the area of rice farming in Hung Tay has now reached 50 hectares. The productivity of farming in farming models is always about 10% higher than mass production and the profit increases by 12-17%. Hung Tay is also gradually replacing old rice varieties with high-quality rice varieties such as Bac Thom No. 7 and AC5.

Hung Nguyen has an annual rice production area of 5,800 - 5,900 hectares. Due to the soil characteristics, which are mainly heavy, acidic, deep loam, most suitable for rice production, the district has identified this as the spearhead and focus in building large-scale model fields (CĐML), developing the commodity agricultural economy.

Besides, Hung Nguyen is located in the vicinity of Vinh city, convenient for trading goods and consuming agricultural products.

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hung Nguyen district - Mr. Hoang Duc An, said: Promoting those advantages, the district focuses on directing the conversion of crop structure towards commodity production, in which attention is paid to building high-quality rice production areas.

The district issued policy mechanisms, supporting 70-100% of seed prices for pure rice varieties, 30% of fertilizers and pesticides to organize the production of CĐML, paying special attention to absorbing and applying new scientific and technological advances, prioritizing new crop varieties with high yield potential and good quality as a premise for mass production.

From 2012 to now, Hung Nguyen has built 40 cooperatives for commercial rice production in 23 communes and towns. Some of these fields are highly effective and have been expanded, such as the BTE rice production field in the spring crop in Hung Tien, Hung Xuan with a yield of 75 - 81 quintals/ha, 11 - 15 quintals/ha higher than Nhi Uu 838; cooperatives for Kinh So Uu, Nghi Huong 2308, Syn6 rice varieties in Hung Trung, Hung Tay, Hung Yen Bac, Hung Tien... with a yield of 68 - 72 quintals/ha, an increase of 8 - 12 quintals/ha compared to the mass.

In addition, the district has also built large fields producing high-quality pure rice varieties AC5, Nang Xuan, Thien Uu 8, Bac Thom No. 9, with productivity reaching 65 - 72 quintals/ha, an increase of 8 - 16 quintals/ha compared to mass production, revenue of 45 - 56 million VND/ha and income increasing compared to mass production from 11 - 26%.

In the summer-autumn crop, the CĐMs producing NA2, Bac Thom No. 7, Hoa Khoi 4, SV181 rice varieties also yielded 53 - 61 quintals/ha, an increase compared to the mass 6 - 12 quintals/ha, with revenue reaching 40 - 44 million VND/ha. The CĐML area has increased continuously over the years, now reaching over 50% of the cultivated area, creating a breakthrough in rice production.

“We have been successful in building cooperatives because the models are based on the experiences of many localities in and outside the province. Some models are built based on the wishes of farmers. In addition, there is the attention, direction and strong investment of the district, in which the role of grassroots Party committees, hamlet command boards and cooperatives is extremely important” - Mr. Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hung Nguyen district shared more.
