In Las Vegas in particular and the state of Nevada in general, Americans can buy guns without any license.

After the horrific shooting that killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 others on the night of October 1, Nevada's gun ownership laws have been brought into debate again as the state allows people to buy guns without any license.

Currently, authorities have not revealed the type of gun suspect Paddock used in the massacre but believe these were legally purchased guns.

Here are some shocking quotes from Nevada's gun laws:

- Every citizen has the right to bear arms for security, self-defense, lawful hunting, recreation and other lawful purposes.

- Citizens can buy guns without a license, without registration, and there is no limit on the number that can be purchased at one time.

- The right to openly carry weapons in public.

- Allowed to purchase assault rifles and large magazines.

- There is no mandatory waiting period before purchasing a gun.

- You can carry a gun to a polling place, casino or bar.

- Guns are not allowed on school or college campuses.

The US Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence ranks Nevada a C for its gun laws, below states with stricter controls like California or Massachusetts but above 25 other states that are ranked F for ease of gun ownership.

According to a survey conducted in March and April by CNN, 83% of American adults believe gun violence is the most serious problem in the country. However, 47% also believe that there would be fewer shootings if gun laws were tightened.

According to CNN, changes to tighten gun laws are often introduced after bloody shootings./.
