Students burst into tears saying goodbye to the principal

After nearly 10 years of work, the principal was quietly prepared by the students for an emotional farewell ceremony in the rain.

On September 30, hundreds of students from Hoa Lu A High School (Ninh Binh) gathered in the school yard to say goodbye to principal Nguyen Trong Khanh before he transferred to another job.

In the middle of the wet schoolyard, students sat in neat rows, holding up handwritten banners "We thank you for everything, teacher", "We love you, teacher", "Wish you good luck in your work"...

Emotions seemed to explode as everyone surrounded the "captain of Hoa Lu A", clapping their hands and singing "Joining Hands". At the end of the song, students rushed to hug their teacher to say goodbye.Many children could not hold back their tears.Surrounded by students, teacher Khanh smiled happily.

Students also quietly prepared a yearbook to give to the teacher, a collection of articles from previous students, 30 classes and students being led by the teacher to express "things that we rarely have the opportunity to express directly to the teacher".

Many teachers sent touching poems to the principal:"Knowing that we will have to part/ Knowing that even if I ask... you won't stay/ Knowing that you're leaving to bring dawn to a life that's forever beautiful/ Why does my heart still ache?/ You haven't said anything, you haven't said anything/ But why is there sadness on every face?"

The principal only asked for 10 minutes of class time to say goodbye, but unexpectedly received so much affection from students and teachers.

Sharing about his role in nearly 10 years of working at Hoa Lu A High School, Mr. Khanh said that the principal, who is the head of the school, cannot be as close as the teachers who teach the students, especially the homeroom teachers. He also does not understand why the students and teachers have so much affection for him.

"In 2010, when I was at school for a few years, the Ministry of Education and Training had a policy of letting students evaluate teachers. That year, I was very surprised when I received support from the students and was honored by the Department as the most beloved teacher in the province," he said.

Mr. Khanh admits that he is very strict, but not aloof. Many students have sought him out for advice not only on studying but also on life issues.For students who do not comply with school regulations, the teacher "calls them up for tea" and uses affection and tolerance to influence them.

"For me, being a manager requires considering virtue as the core, humane governance is more important than legal governance," he affirmed.

After two terms at Hoa Lu A High School, he was transferred to be principal at Gia Vien B High School.
