Russia eliminates 12 terrorist gang commanders in Syria

(Baonghean) - On October 4, Russia's TASS news agency reported that the country's Air Force had destroyed the command of the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra.

According to Major General Igor Konashenkov - spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, the leader of this terrorist group, Abu Mohammed al-Julani, is currently in critical condition, while 12 other commanders have been killed.

“On October 3, Russian military intelligence discovered the time and place of a meeting of the leaders of the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra led by Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of this gang. Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft from the Russian air force in Syria were mobilized to attack the target,” the spokesman said.

Konashenkov noted that the decision to conduct the airstrike was made after confirming that terrorists had arrived at the location and started meetings through several channels.

Konashenkov asserted: “According to a number of independent sources, after the attack, the leader of Jabhat al-Nusra, Abu Mohammed al-Julani, was seriously wounded, lost an arm and is in critical condition. In addition to about 50 bodyguards, 12 combat commanders of the Jabhat al-Nusra gang, including al-Julani's most trusted aide, and the head of the group's security department, Ahmad al-Ghizai, were all eliminated.”

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 10 gunmen were moderately or seriously injured by the effects of explosives.

Konashenkov added that information on the whereabouts of the commanders of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group was collected through a multi-level intelligence system.

The spokesman stressed that the Russian Defense Ministry will step up efforts to eliminate terrorists involved in the September 18 attack on a Russian police and military guard post in the Idlib de-escalation zone in the border region.
