Vinamilk and the journey of taking care of the elderly's health

(Baonghean.vn) - In response to the National Campaign for the Elderly in the period of 2014 - 2020, in September and October 2017, in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vinamilk with a series of seminars "Elderly Health Care" continued to promote the protection, care and promotion of the role of the elderly, and propagated to the elderly about the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".

Useful activities such as bone density measurement and health care advice for the elderly attracted nearly 2,000 participants. In addition, a team of reputable doctors also provided advice to help the elderly have more information about their own nutrition as well as health care for family members.

In 2016, Vinamilk also organized more than 30 health care seminars for nearly 80,000 elderly people nationwide. According to Dr. Nguyen Le, statistics show that about 95% of the elderly are in average or poor health, only 5% of the elderly are in good health.

The elderly mainly suffer from chronic non-communicable diseases, over 70% of the elderly have to work and earn a living with the support of their children and family, only over 20% of the elderly live on pensions or social benefits. Therefore, knowing how to take care of health and have a reasonable diet is extremely important in ensuring a healthy and happy life for the elderly.

In addition to the prevalence of metabolic disorders such as impaired glucose tolerance, fatty liver, dyslipidemia, obesity and malnutrition, the doctor also pointed out common diseases in the elderly such as cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, musculoskeletal, endocrine and metabolic, and central nervous system diseases. Therefore, scientific attention should be paid to energizing the body.

The doctor's advice is to eat enough for the body's needs, choose beneficial foods with appropriate preparation methods, ensure taste and need supplements.
