Head of tax inspection department prosecuted for receiving bribe of 130 million

Mr. Ho Minh Khiem - Head of Tax Inspection Department, Binh Dinh Province Tax Department, was caught red-handed receiving bribes from a business representative.

On the morning of October 7, a leader of the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province Police said that they had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Ho Minh Khiem - 53 years old, head of the tax inspection department of the Binh Dinh Province Tax Department - for 4 months to investigate the crime of "receiving bribes".

On the afternoon of October 1, Mr. Khiem was caught red-handed by the Binh Dinh Provincial Police Department receiving money from a representative of a business headquartered in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province).

According to the initial investigation of the authorities, when conducting a tax inspection of the above construction enterprise, Mr. Khiem discovered violations so he continuously threatened to severely punish them, then demanded to "share" a large amount of money.

"After the negotiation process, the two sides agreed that the amount of money that the enterprise would be fined was about 70 million VND due to tax violations, and the remaining 130 million VND would be given to Mr. Khiem," said the leader of the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province Police.

After catching Mr. Khiem in the act of violating the law, the police investigation agency had to issue a decision to temporarily detain him and extend his detention for a total of 6 days to fight to have enough basis to prosecute the case and the defendant./.
