New opportunities for Vinh oranges when affixing origin traceability stamps
(Baonghean.vn) - The upcoming electronic stamping of Vinh oranges to trace their origin is of particular interest to consumers. This requires each orange growing household to continuously improve product quality through clean production practices.
Sticking electronic stamps to trace the origin of Vinh oranges really protects the rights of consumers and ensures the reputation of the product.
When implementing new technology to trace the origin, it requires each orange growing household to practice clean production, ensuring food safety and hygiene and better quality. That is the desire of consumers when it comes to Vinh orange products, which have been accepted by "difficult" consumers up to now.

According to Mr. Le Huy Dung - Director of 3/2 Agricultural and Industrial One Member Co., Ltd., for a long time, orange growers have been mainly spontaneous, using inconsistent seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, causing uneven orange quality.
In many growing areas, the quality of oranges has decreased. To improve the quality of Vinh oranges, along with the application of electronic traceability stamps, some areas must replant oranges that are many years old. Only then will orange production facilities truly be linked from the seed, fertilizer, pesticide, etc. care process, and quality will be more assured.
During that process, there will be supervision by the competent authority in considering the conditions for granting stamps to orange products.

Mr. Quan Vi Giang - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quy Hop district said: To ensure the quality of Vinh oranges, orange growers need to apply care according to VietGAP process. Statistics show that Quy Hop only has about 10 hectares of harvested oranges cared for according to VietGAP process, while the total area of local oranges has been harvested at 1,200 hectares.
That requires that in the coming years, the area of oranges grown according to VietGAP process needs to increase to receive traceability stamps and spread the brand.

Nghia Dan orange area is also part of Vinh orange system. In recent years, Nghia Dan orange growers have also been switching to VietGAP orange trees on a large scale. Therefore, in order to master the care techniques to improve fruit quality, gardeners must also change their business mindset, strengthen connections, and improve orange quality.
According to Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology, in the immediate future, during the 2017 orange season, the department will submit to the Provincial People's Committee to apply electronic stamps to trace the origin of Vinh oranges at 5 qualified production units, which produce oranges according to VietGAP process. In the following years, the stamps will be expanded and resolutely not issued to orange gardens that do not meet the requirements.
