Heavy rain appeared in Vinh City starting at around 12 midnight on October 9th, the heavy rain lasted all night causing almost all roads to be deeply flooded, many households had their houses flooded up to 30-40 cm.

Vinh City currently has 3 drainage pumping stations: Cau Tri, the Southern pumping station and the Southwest pumping station, of which the Southern pumping station is the most important drainage pumping station of the city with a capacity of 57,000 m3/h, 6 pumps continuously pump water into Vinh River when water in the inner city exceeds the allowable level.

Along with that, the sluice gates to the Vinh River were also opened. However, up to now, the water level outside the river and inside the river is not much different, so the sluice gates are almost ineffective.

Mr. Bui Duc Loc - Director of Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company said that all three pumping stations have been operating to drain the reservoir since October 8 to use for the reservoir. Especially since the evening of October 9, they have been pumping continuously to drain the water, operating at maximum capacity, but due to the heavy rainfall, they could not handle the flooding in time.

Drainage from the connecting residential block is having problems, so although there has been investment in local flooding prevention in the past, it still does not meet the requirements.

Currently, units are closely monitoring and checking the operating procedures as well as the capacity of pumping stations to have timely adjustment plans./.
