According to President Duterte, Russia will provide about 5,000 Kalashinov rifles under a deal to be signed this month and the Philippine military will no longer have to use old weapons.

In a speech to troops, the Philippine leader said: "We will have the Kalashinov," and said Moscow wanted to keep the funding secret.

A senior defense official revealed that Russian weapons will arrive in the Philippines later this month when the Russian defense minister attends a regional conference.

In addition to the rifles, there will be a large amount of ammunition and dozens of trucks for the army. Five Russian warships will arrive in Manila to deliver this military equipment./.
