Vietnamese authorities have just received a citizen who was trafficked to China. She is a 17-year-old female student residing in Hanoi. Through the victim’s testimony, the Hanoi Police Department quickly arrested the subject who committed the human trafficking, who was the student’s lover.

At the police station, suspect Tran Ngo Duc Viet, born in 1998, residing in Van Chuong ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi, confessed: From 2013 to 2015, Viet lived with Tran Thi Thu Huyen, born in 1999 as husband and wife and had a daughter together. After that, Viet and Huyen broke up.

In July 2017, Huyen had an accident and had to stay at Viet's house so that Viet's family could take care of her. As for Viet, after breaking up with Huyen, in early 2017, Viet met and fell in love with Pham Van Anh, born in 2000, residing in Dong Da district.

While Huyen was at Viet's house to treat her accident injuries, her friend To Hai Anh, born in 1998, residing in Vinh Tuy ward, Hai Ba Trung district, and some mutual friends came to visit. On August 20, Hai Anh, along with Huyen's sister, Hai Anh's lover, and two Chinese men, came to Viet's house to visit Huyen.

Here, the subjects discussed taking Huyen to China for treatment, and at the same time finding women, pretending to hire them to take care of Huyen, but in reality, to sell them as wives to Chinese men in need.

Hai Anh had an agreement with Viet to find women for him. Hai Anh would pay Viet 5 million VND for each person. If there were two people, Hai Anh would give each person 1 million VND, making it 12 million VND. At that moment, Viet received a phone call from Van Anh - his girlfriend, so the idea of ​​selling Van Anh to Hai Anh arose in his mind.

While Viet took Van Anh to meet Huyen, Hai Anh and the others, Huyen continued to ask Viet to pick up one of Huyen's social friends, Thanh Mai. During this time, Huyen talked privately with Van Anh.

Knowing that Van Anh and Mai did not want to go home due to conflicts with their families, Huyen and Hai Anh invited the two female students to China to take care of Huyen during her treatment.

At 8:00 a.m. on August 22, 2017, the subjects and two female students traveled together to the Chi Ma - Lang Son border gate. Afterwards, Viet used the excuse that he had many things to take care of at home and returned to Hanoi by car. Meanwhile, the subjects traveled by unofficial route to China.

Upon arriving in Hanoi, Viet called Hai Anh to demand payment and Hai Anh transferred him 5,600,000 VND. At noon on October 5, 2017, Van Anh was rescued by Chinese police and the procedures for handing her over to Vietnam were completed.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency has decided to temporarily detain Tran Ngo Duc Viet for human trafficking and continue to coordinate with Chinese police to rescue Thanh Mai and bring her back to Vietnam.
