National Assembly Chairman leaves for IPU-137 and official visit to Kazakhstan
On the morning of October 14, a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly led by Politburo member and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan left Hanoi to attend the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-137) and related conferences in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation from October 14-15, 2017, and pay an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from October 16-18, 2017.

The visit took place at the invitation of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Saber Chowdhury, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym Zhomart Tokayev and Chairman of the State Duma of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin.

The high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly included members of the Party Central Committee and members of the National Assembly Standing Committee: Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Nguyen Van Giau; Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc; Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children Phan Thanh Binh; Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Tran Van Tuy. Members of the Party Central Committee: Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Kien Giang Province Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Vinh Phuc Province Hoang Thi Thuy Lan; Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City Tran Quoc Trung; Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee Tran Cong Chanh.
The delegation also included Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Ngo Duc Manh; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Office, Assistant to the National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vu Hong Nam; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Nguyen Thanh Son; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Republic of Kazakhstan Doan Thi Xuan Hien.
The Vietnamese National Assembly delegation attending the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly affirmed Vietnam's proactive and active participation in multilateral parliamentary diplomacy activities; continued to promote the role and position of the Vietnamese National Assembly at the Inter-Parliamentary Union forum, thereby contributing to promoting the State's common diplomatic efforts for national interests, in harmony with regional interests.
After attending IPU-137, the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly led by Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will officially visit the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is the first time the Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly has officially visited the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The visit aims to continue to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan; promote relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and political parties in the Kazakh Parliament, especially the Nur Otan Party and the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan.
The visit contributes to promoting Vietnam-Kazakhstan cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, energy, culture and education; exchanging cooperation measures to maximize the effectiveness of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union; enhancing cooperation, information exchange and operational experience between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Senate and House of Representatives of Kazakhstan..../.
