Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union posthumously awarded a Certificate of Merit to journalist Dinh Huu Du

On October 13, the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union posthumously awarded a Certificate of Merit to journalist Dinh Huu Du.

The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union recognized that journalist Dinh Huu Du promoted the spirit of youth in carrying out the task of reporting on the storm and flood situation in Yen Bai province.

Certificate of Merit signed by First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Le Quoc Phong.

As reported, at around 12 noon on October 11, journalist Dinh Huu Du was swept away by floodwaters while working at Ngoi Thia bridge, Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province.

The incident happened when he was standing on the bridge filming to record the flood situation in the area. The bridge suddenly collapsed, causing journalist Dinh Huu Du and 3 others to fall down and be swept away by the water.

On the afternoon of October 13, the body of journalist Dinh Huu Du was found in the Van Phu bridge area (Yen Bai city), about 100km from the accident scene (Ngoi Thia bridge, Nghia Lo town).

Previously, to honor his brave and selfless spirit while working, the Vietnam Journalists Association decided to posthumously award a Certificate of Merit to Journalist Dinh Huu Du "For his brave act of sacrificing himself while performing his duties"./.
