According to Express, the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier left San Diego last week and is on its way to the Western Pacific to focus on maritime security operations in the region.
Admiral Steve Koehler, commander of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier strike group, affirmed that "USS Theodore Roosevelt is always in a state of combat readiness."
"The US Navy's main aircraft carrier strike group is the most flexible force at sea. After nearly a year of training, the entire unit is ready to fight and carry out national missions," Mr. Koehler emphasized.
According to Express, USS Theodore Roosevelt will join the USS Bunker Hill, USS Halsey, USS Sampson and USS Treble to deploy assigned missions in East Asia and the Middle East.
In early October, the US also sent another aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan, carrying nearly 80 aircraft on board to the South Korean port of Busan to participate in joint exercises between Washington and Seoul in October.
However, immediately after this move, North Korea responded by declaring that it had put its hand on the button to launch a series of missiles to Guam island in retaliation for the exercise that Pyongyang asserted was a "rehearsal for invading North Korea".
