InterviewCNNSecretary of State Tillerson softened the message that President Trump had previously sent on Twitter that "dialogue with North Korea is a waste of time."

“President Trump does not want war with North Korea. He has made it clear to me that diplomatic efforts need to continue. As I said, those diplomatic efforts will continue until the first bomb drops,” Secretary Tillerson said.

The comments come amid growing concerns that the current tensions between the US and North Korea could escalate into a military conflict. The war of words between the US and North Korea has continued for months.

News agencyKCNANorth Korea yesterday accused the US of sending weapons to South Korea and countries in the region, pushing the Korean peninsula into a state of "extreme tension".

“Mr. Trump called for the total destruction of our country and people at the United Nations and continued to bring strategic nuclear weapons to South Korea and neighboring areas, pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war,”KCNAspeak.

The US government has repeatedly issued warnings to North Korea. However, the messages from President Trump and senior officials in his administration on the North Korea issue have so far been inconsistent.

President Trump has warned of “totally destroying” North Korea and said that dialogue with North Korea is a “waste of time.” Meanwhile, officials in his administration have affirmed that the US continues to pursue diplomatic measures with Pyongyang. Secretary of State Tillerson has held talks with Chinese officials to ask for support in restraining North Korea.
