'Boss' of 20 heroin cakes case used to be village chief and association president

As reported, the Drug Crime Investigation Department of Nghe An Police discovered a group of Mong people residing in Pha Noi village, Muong Tip commune, who were involved in drug-related crimes. Project 717M was quickly established to combat the crime.

Lau Ba Cha is considered a prestigious person in Muong Tip commune, because he was once the village chief and chairman of the commune's Red Cross Society. However, he was not content with his fate, worked hard, and was fascinated by the illegal money from drug trafficking.

After many days of monitoring and understanding the situation, on October 14, having firmly grasped the information that the subjects would transport drugs on passenger buses along National Highway 7A for sale, the Task Force decided to crack the case.

Accordingly, at 10:30 p.m. the same day, in Dinh Son commune, Anh Son district, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department coordinated with Traffic Police Team 1-7, Nghe An Traffic Police Department to catch red-handed on a passenger car with license plate 37B-02142 traveling from Tuong Duong, Nghe An to Lao Cai, two subjects, Lau Ba Cha (born in 1977) and Lau Ba Vu (born in 1987), both residing in Pha Noi village, Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district, illegally storing drugs, seizing 20 heroin cakes from the subjects.

Although the subjects were arrested and the evidence was recovered, at the police station, through the initial struggle, the subjects stubbornly refused to admit their crimes. However, with the spirit of resolutely fighting against crime, combined with professional measures, the authorities fought and clarified the matter, and the two subjects admitted their crimes.

Captain Ho Sy Duc, Deputy Head of Team 2, Drug Crime Investigation Department, Nghe An Police added: It was very difficult to catch the subject. For many days, officers and soldiers had to travel nearly 300km from Vinh City to Ky Son to monitor and grasp the situation.

Furthermore, although reaching Ky Son district, it was not easy to get to the area where the subject was operating to collect information because the leader was an ethnic minority, living in a cluster in the village, so it was not easy to verify and identify the subject.

On the other hand, the number of small-scale trade routes in the border area is very large, and it is difficult to determine the routes of operation and the places where the "goods" are hidden. However, thanks to the help of the forces, the local government and people, the subjects were approached and captured, contributing to the successful destruction of the project. Currently, the project is being further investigated and expanded.
