(Baonghean.vn) - Each person donates from 1,000 VND or more depending on their generosity, but for the past 7 years, Mong, Thai, Kho Mu, and O Du students have raised 25 million VND to help students in difficult circumstances.

On Monday, the flag-raising ceremony took place in a warmer atmosphere than ever in the school located on the top of a high hill in Phong village (Thach Giam commune - Tuong Duong). After the comments and evaluations from the board of directors of Tuong Duong Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, gifts were given to dozens of poor students with difficult circumstances.

The gifts for the children were just daily necessities such as soap, toothpaste, bowls... but they helped hundreds of Mong, Thai, Kho Mu, and O Du students feel secure in their studies and learning.

Lin Thi Tam, an 8th grade student from the remote Nga My commune, held a 2,000 VND bill in her hand and said happily: “Every month, my parents send me 50,000 VND for pocket money, but every week I set aside 2-5,000 VND to support my friends. There are many students in my class who are more disadvantaged than me. Their homes are far away, and their parents have to go to the fields every day, so it is very difficult.”

Receiving small gifts, the eyes of these highland students all lit up with hope. For them, it is not only the material value but also the love and care that teachers and friends give them.

“My family is a poor household in Nhon Mai commune, more than 100 km from the school, so my parents do not have the conditions to visit me often. Every week, I have to try to be good and study well to receive gifts,” Xong Y La, a Mong student, emotionally confided.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Vice Principal of the school said: This friendship gift box program was launched in the 2010-2011 school year, each year more than 300 students and 36 teachers and staff participated. Up to now, more than 500 gifts with a total value of 25 million VND have been given to poor students who have made progress in their studies on Mondays of the week.

Depending on each person's heart, but since its launch, this program has always received enthusiastic response from all members of the school. This is a great success in arousing the spirit of solidarity and mutual love in the school environment.
