(Baonghean.vn) - With a cost of about 500,000 VND, each household in Nghia Dan (Nghe An) has a very effective environmentally friendly garbage treatment pit.

This model also actively contributes to raising people's awareness, ensuring community health, and contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful new countryside.

Previously, people in some remote communes of Nghia Dan district had the habit of littering in public places, along roads, ditches... Therefore, spontaneous landfills were formed in the area, causing environmental pollution and loss of village beauty.

In 2014 - 2015, Nghia Dan district selected Nghia Mai and Nghia Son communes as pilot sites to build a household waste treatment model.

After launching and implementing the model, people have become aware of the impact environmental protection has on their health and lives, so each family actively maintains hygiene from inside the house to the village roads, alleys, and even the fields.

Mr. Nguyen The Vang in hamlet 7B, Nghia Mai commune said: "Previously, people littered, polluting the environment. Since the campaign to build garbage pits at home, environmental sanitation has been ensured. Families collect garbage and burn it every 3-4 days to ensure environmental sanitation in the village."

In Nghia Son commune, when the household waste treatment model was first launched, there were many difficulties due to the habit of littering of many people. However, after a period of persistent propaganda and mobilization; especially, cadres and party members were the pioneers in implementing it, up to now, each family has built a garbage pit and spontaneous waste dumping sites have been eliminated.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Luc - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghia Son commune, the model has been replicated in 9/9 hamlets; every week, the sanitation and waste collection work in residential areas is maintained regularly by the people.

With the success of the above model, many communes in Nghia Dan have now replicated the model of public waste treatment.
