Real needed Ronaldo's penalty to level the score at 1-1 in the Champions League group stage match.

Goals: Ronaldo penalty 43' - Varane own goal 28'

Real dominated the opening minutes, but were soon met by Tottenham's solid defence. The game could have been different if Ronaldo had scored in the fourth minute, hitting the post with a header from the No. 7.

While Real took the initiative to attack, Tottenham played a very effective counter-attacking defense. The away team often organized counter-attacks towards goalkeeper Keylor Navas' goal in the middle of the first half. If Navas had not excellently blocked Kane's header in the 19th minute, the score could have been 1-0 in favor of Tottenham.

The visitors had to wait another nine minutes for the equaliser, which came from a cross from Serge Aurier on the right wing. And under pressure from Kane, centre-back Raphael Varane turned the ball into his own net.

Aurier was the one who indirectly gave the visitors the lead, but was also the player who forced teammate Hugo Lloris to pick the ball out of the net in the 43rd minute. The Ivorian right-back made a mistake when he fouled Toni Kroos in the penalty area. From the 11m mark, Ronaldo made no mistake in his mission to equalize the score 1-1.

CR7 has his fifth goal in three group stage matches.

Compared to the first half, the remaining 45 minutes were more exciting and dramatic. This was also the time when Real focused their efforts on winning.

Goalkeeper Lloris was the hero for Tottenham, making three saves in quick succession. Lloris's standout save came in the 54th minute when Benzema headed the ball into the Frenchman's leg from just five metres out. The Tottenham captain also parried two powerful shots from Ronaldo.

Tottenham also organized an effective counter-attack and almost won three points. Kane missed a "golden" opportunity when he shot into Navas' hand in a face-off in the 73rd minute. Not long after, midfielder Christian Eriksen also had a face-off but shot into the net outside the goal.

Goalkeeper Navas used his fingertips to push the ball away from Kane's right-footed shot.

With a 1-1 draw, Real and Tottenham continue to maintain the balance in Champions League Group H. The two teams now have seven points, seven goals scored and two conceded from the first three matches.

The return match on November 2 could be the decisive match for the top spot in Group H. At that time, Tottenham will have home advantage over Real.
