For nearly 2 weeks now, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang, village 4, Cam Son commune has been busy because of the cucumber harvest season. Ms. Giang shared: In previous years, most families in the commune started planting in November, when the harvest season began, it was very difficult to sell. This year, the family boldly planted earlier, so at this time, they have already harvested.
Because of planting during a rainy season, Ms. Giang's family had to cover the plants with plastic to help them grow. Currently, with an area of nearly 2 sao of cucumbers, during the main harvest season, Ms. Giang's family picks 8-9 yen per day, sometimes 1.2 quintals of cucumbers per day.
More excitedly, because there are few melons on the market at this time, the price is very good, and they are easy to sell. Every harvest day, traders come to the fields to buy, so people do not have to go to the market to sell like in the main season. With the price of 8,000 - 10,000 VND/kg, by the end of the season, after deducting expenses, her family will make a profit of nearly 15 million VND.

Once in season, it can be harvested continuously every 2 days for 1 month, with an average yield of 1-1.5 tons/sao. After deducting costs, each hectare brings people an income of 100-150 million VND/year.
With the value of cucumbers, Anh Son district is encouraging people to expand the area on fertile land, hilly land, and rice fields to increase income per unit area and at the same time coordinate with specialized sectors in localities with large vegetable areas in the district to transfer techniques, thereby helping people have conditions to increase income, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the locality.
