Hung Nguyen successfully raised commercial climbing fish
(Baonghean.vn) - The commercial climbing fish farming model tested for the first time in Hung Thong commune, Hung Nguyen district has shown positive results.
This is a model deployed by the Hung Nguyen District Agricultural Extension Station in early April 2017. Households participating in the model are provided with 100% of the breed by the state, supported with 30% of the food cost, and trained in farming techniques with the hope of creating an abundant source of commercial climbing fish to supply the market.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung in hamlet 6, Hung Thong, the owner of a fish farm said:Even though this is my first time raising a dog, I'm still very excited.Asian fish have high adaptability to the water source and ecology here. The process of raising fish is disease-free, requires little care and has higher economic value than the previous types of fish that the family has raised.

It is expected that the climbing fish will be harvested during the Lunar New Year. This type of fish is very popular in the market, especially in restaurants, so many traders have come to buy it. The current market price ranges from 100,000 VND - 120,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Tran Van Sam - Head of Hung Nguyen Agricultural Extension Station said: At first, when the breed was imported, it was hot and dry, so the care was very difficult. However, when the fish grew bigger, they grew very well. It is expected that in about 2 months, they can be harvested. After the model is successful, we will expand it to other localities because this is a type of aquatic product with high economic value, helping rural people have a good income.
