These days, Mr. Le Sy Vi's family's boot avocado garden in Son Ha hamlet, Nghia Son commune is always bustling with traders from Hanoi coming to buy. Mr. Vi said that this is a late-ripening avocado variety, with high consumer demand, he has converted 5 sao of mixed garden land to plant 150 boot avocado trees, after 3 years the avocados bear fruit, on average each avocado tree gives nearly 100 quintals of fruit.

"Growing avocados requires low investment costs, few pests and diseases, so the use of pesticides is limited. Although this is the first year of fruiting, my family's avocado garden has a high yield. Currently, many traders come to buy directly from the garden, there is no product to sell. Late-ripening avocados have a good yield, large, dense fruit; the current selling price is 50,000 - 55,000 VND/kg, 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg higher than the main crop. The family's 150 avocado trees have earned over 200 million VND," said Mr. Vi.

According to Mr. Tran Quoc Hong - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nghia Son commune, the late-ripening boot avocado variety flowers from January to March every year and is harvested from October to December. Realizing the high economic efficiency, the Farmers' Association of Nghia Son commune organized for members to visit the model and learn techniques.

In addition, the association also recommends that members should not plant massively, to avoid supply exceeding demand; should intercrop in areas of perennial crops that have not yet been harvested, bringing "double benefits", using short-term to support long-term, increasing economic efficiency for people.

Over the years, Nghia Son commune has promoted farmers to take advantage of garden land to grow fruit trees. In fact, Nghia Son is currently the leading commune in Nghia Dan district in developing fruit trees such as oranges, guavas, apples, and grapefruits. And currently, it is testing a late-ripening avocado boot model; the locality evaluates this as an initially effective model, creating motivation for farmers to feel secure in production.
