(Baonghean.vn) - The unfinished road construction makes it very difficult for people in the mountainous areas of Con Cuong district to travel, having to wade through mud when it rains and be covered in dust when it's sunny.

This is the route from Thach Ngan to Mau Duc, which is part of the investment project of Con Cuong district. This project is designed according to the standards of a grade VI mountainous road, with a 6m wide roadbed, a 3.5m wide road surface, and a total route length of 10.5km. The total investment is over 52 billion VND.

The project started in November 2011 and is expected to be completed in early 2013. However, only 2.1 km of the new road in Thach Ngan commune has been handed over for use, the rest is still "covered", mostly in Mau Duc commune. Therefore, on rainy days, this road becomes muddy, slippery, and dangerous for road users.

Vi Thi Hoa, a student at Mau Duc Secondary School, said: The distance from home to school is only 3 kilometers, but it took me nearly an hour because the road was slippery and muddy. I called it riding a bike, but in reality, I had to carry more than walk. Not to mention that many days when I arrived at school, my clothes were soaked and covered in mud...

According to Ms. Vi Thi Lan, a resident living right on this road, "It's impossible to describe our suffering. When it's sunny, it's dusty, when it's raining, it's muddy, so we have to have urgent work to leave the house, otherwise we just sit and look out at the road and feel bored."

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Head of the Management Board of Construction Investment Projects of Con Cuong district said: The project was implemented on the basis of the province's excess revenue. However, in recent years, the excess revenue source no longer exists, so from 2012 until now, the project has not been allocated capital. The project has not been included in the annual concentrated capital allocation of the provincial budget by the Provincial People's Committee.

Up to now, the total capital allocated and paid for the project is only over 14.8 billion VND out of the total investment of over 52 billion VND.
