Barca's board must approve the club's budget for the 2017-2018 season this weekend. President Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed the club has a record budget of more than one billion dollars, but the situation is not optimistic when it has to spend up to 695 million dollars on player salaries.
Neymar's move to PSG has saved Barca a large amount of money in wages. However, the situation is still serious for the Old Trafford team as the wage fund accounts for 84% of the budget, far exceeding the proposed ceiling of 70%.

Things could get worse for Barca as they are about to renew the contracts of Lionel Messi and Gerrard Pique. The salaries of this key duo will increase, and the wage bill will also jump.
Barca's board is still looking for ways to increase revenue. The club hopes to make a big profit from selling advertising on training shirts, signing a new contract with Nike, asking for increased TV rights, and even selling the stadium name...
The Nou Camp team also hopes to push some players like Arda Turan and Thomas Vermaelen away to reduce the salary fund.
