Yonhap news agency on October 22 quoted sources as saying that a North Korean diplomat affirmed that Pyongyang will not return to multilateral talks until it resolves issues with the United States; and willcontinue to develop its nuclear program if the US does not abandon its hostile policy toward North Korea.

According to the source, the above statement was made by Director of the North American Department of the North Korean Foreign Ministry Choe Son-hui during a meeting at an international forum on nuclear disarmament in Moscow (Russia) on October 21.

Ms. Choe pointed out that the current crisis on the Korean peninsula is due to the US's hostile policy toward Pyongyang, and affirmed that the country will not return to any multilateral negotiations, including the six-party talks, until it resolves issues with the US.
