To honor their late mother, four sisters in an American family pursued a career in medicine. They believed that this was a way to continue the path their late mother had left unfinished.

The sisters' mother, Toni Murphy, a nurse, died in 2001 at the age of 36 from complications from an infection, according to ABC News.
At that time, she had 5 children, including 4 quadruplets: Erin, Kelly, Rachel and Casey Murphy. They were only 2 years old at that time. The remaining one was the oldest sister, Lyn Murphy, 13 years older than her siblings.
Sixteen years have passed, and the four sisters are now 18 years old and freshmen in college. All four have chosen to study medicine to continue the path their mother left behind. The family lives in Swedesboro, New Jersey.
The three sisters, Kelly, Rachel and Casey Murphy, are studying nursing at Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey (USA). The remaining girl, Erin Murphy, is studying veterinary medicine at Oklahoma State University (USA).
“I wanted to follow in my mom's footsteps. My dad told us a lot of stories and that's what we wanted to do,” Casey Murphy told ABC News.
After his wife passed away, the father of five children - Mr. Michael Murphy - raised his children alone. In addition to the four 18-year-old daughters, his remaining daughter, Ms. Lyn Murphy, is now 31 years old.
Today, the four sisters are pursuing their dream careers in the medical field. Kelly wants to become a doctor. Casey wants to work in pediatrics and research a cure for cancer. Rachel wants to become a trauma nurse. Erin wants to become a veterinarian.
Notably, their older sister, Lyn Murphy, also works in the medical field. Lyn works as an X-ray technician at a hospital in New Jersey.
“It’s great that the kids want to honor their mom by following her career path. I never force them, it’s all their own choice,” said Michael Murphy.
