Luxury SUV models appear

The new car lineup at VIMS 2017 mainly focuses on the SUV segment, alongside the appearance of 3 motorcycle brands and a yacht brand.

On October 25, the Vietnam Imported Automobile Exhibition 2017 officially opened with 12 car manufacturers and a yacht brand. This year’s exhibition was more gloomy, a step back from 2016 when a total of 19 car manufacturers participated. This is the third time the exhibition has been held in Vietnam.

New car trends at VIMS 2017 exhibition are not widespread, mainly focusing on SUVs.

Mercedes-Benz still holds the largest area at the exhibition. The company brings 18 different models, belonging to 4 product groups: Luxury, SUV, Compact and Dream Cars. Besides a dedicated "High Performance" area to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mercedes-AMG brand and a luxury position for Mercedes-Maybach. The centerpiece of the 3-pointed star brand is the GLE 63 and GLA 63 models.

Land Rover returns after last year's missed appointment. The British car company has gone all out with two new SUVs, including the Velar and Evoque Convertible, along with the newly launched 2018 Discovery Sport off-road SUV. Jaguar has nothing new. Audi this year has no new products except for two special editions of the TT, Q3 and the presence of the A3 Sportback.

Volvo attended the exhibition with the all-new XC60, increasing its competitiveness with Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3. Subaru brought XV 2018. Newcomer SsangYong introduced the 7-seat SUV G4 Rexton, positioned in the segment of Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai SantaFe. DongFeng was the only representative from China. The company introduced a series of products, focusing on the S50 and SX6.

The yacht appeared at VIMSS 2017.

There are also 3 motorcycle brands participating in the exhibition, including Harley-Davidson, Triumph and Royal Enfield. Their products are mainly classic and touring motorcycles. Unfortunately, the 2 famous motorcycle brands Ducati and BMW Motorrad are not present.

The new highlight of VIMS 2017 is the appearance of Tam Son Yachting - the official distributor for a French yacht company. The company introduced the Beneteau Flyer 7.7, a high-speed canoe.

VIMS 2017 takes place from October 25-29 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC). Opening hours are from 9am to 6pm daily. This is the third year the event has been held.
