The "hottest" issue at this congress, which is also the content of this morning's workshop, is the story of electronic traceability stamps for Vinh oranges.
Accordingly, from the 2017 orange crop, implementing the support policy of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Science and Technology will print 550,000 electronic traceability stamps for 5 units eligible to affix stamps. In addition, the Department will provide 5 stamp printers for 5 orange production units. The printing of stamps is managed by the Department of Science and Technology, establishments eligible to print stamps are only allowed to print the quantity registered with the Department of Science and Technology.
Also at the congress, opinions from localities and orange growers said that the management of stamps at the units where stamps are printed needs to have specific solutions to avoid the situation of printing stamps but not sticking all the stamps, causing the stamps to be lost. There needs to be a consensus on stamp designs and stamp quality. Stamp sticking needs to be managed from the department level to the district level.

Vinh oranges have become a unique brand of Nghe An. Photo: Document |
Many opinions say that the most important thing is product quality, so there needs to be a specialized agency to manage the seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides well because currently there are many poor quality oranges in the localities. However, up to now, there is still no specific process for caring for oranges, no unit to manage and supply orange seeds....
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Vinh oranges have abundant potential, the demand for Vinh oranges is also very large, so the Executive Committee of the Vinh Orange Production and Trading Association needs to make efforts to improve the quality of Vinh oranges. Especially this year is the first year of implementing the labeling of Vinh oranges, the association needs to do a good job of registering the labeling for its members.
To make consumers feel secure when using Vinh oranges, the Association needs to do well in 3 steps: Expanding the area, improving the quality and mastering the product in the market. In the future, the Provincial People's Committee will coordinate with businesses to produce orange varieties that ensure quality.
