Sneaking into people's houses, using pliers to break the lock and steal motorbikes

(Baonghean.vn) - Kien sneaked into houses, used a crowbar to break the locks and stole many motorbikes from people, then brought them to Dien Chau district to pawn and get money to spend.

On the morning of October 27, Tan Ky District People's Court opened a criminal trial against Cao Kien (born in 1985, residing in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district) for the crime of "Theft of property".

According to records, since May 2017, many motorbike thefts have occurred in Tan Ky district, causing panic and anxiety among the people.

The subjects chose a time when the homeowner was away or taking a lunch break, taking advantage of the residents' carelessness... sneaking in and using a pliers to break the lock to steal the vehicle. After committing the crime, the subjects quickly escaped, leaving no trace at the scene.

After the investigation, the Investigation Committee put Cao Kien under suspicion. Kien had a previous conviction for "Theft of property". On August 11, 2017, Cao Kien and Pham Chien (living in the same district) rode a motorbike from their home to Tan Ky district with the intention of stealing a motorbike.

When passing by An Thanh Cong's house (Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district), Kien discovered a motorbike parked on the porch. Chien stopped the motorbike, Kien jumped over the wall, used an L-shaped clamp to break the electric lock, and stole the motorbike.

Kien was discovered by the homeowner, who chased him on a motorbike and called the Tan Ky District Police. The Tan Ky District Police task force on duty arrested Kien when he ran to Nghia Thai Commune (Tan Ky). Pham Chien escaped and is wanted.

At the police station, Kien confessed that from May to August 2017, he had successfully carried out 5 motorbike thefts in the districts of Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Yen Thanh, and Dien Chau with a total value of more than 71 million VND. After stealing the motorbikes, Kien brought them to Dien Chau district to pawn and then used the money to spend.

The People's Court sentenced Cao Kien to 4 years in prison and ordered him to pay the victim 10.3 million VND in compensation.
