Cement exports increase again
While cement consumption in the domestic market in the first 10 months of 2017 decreased compared to the same period, cement output in the export market increased again.
According to data from the Department of Construction Materials (Ministry of Construction), it is estimated that cement products consumed in the first 10 months of 2017 reached about 62.89 million tons, an increase of 2% over the same period in 2016 and reaching about 79% of the year's plan.

Notably, the domestic cement output in the first 10 months of 2017 was estimated at 47.22 million tons, down 3% over the same period. In October alone, this figure was 4.92 million tons, down 3% over the same period.
Meanwhile, in the export market, there were mixed developments when in the first 10 months of 2017, the estimated output of exported cement products reached about 15.67 million tons, an increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2016. In October alone, the export of cement products was estimated at about 1.6 million tons.
Experts in the field of construction materials said that the reason for the decrease in cement consumption in the domestic market is because from the beginning of the year until now, and especially in October, unfavorable weather conditions, heavy and prolonged rain, affected construction activities, causing a decrease in cement demand in the domestic market.
This situation will improve in the last months of the year when many construction projects continue to be implemented with larger volumes.
