Mitsubishi recalls more than 2,500 Pajero cars due to airbag defect

From November 1, Mitsubishi Vietnam has carried out a recall campaign for more than 2,500 Pajero vehicles imported from 2007 to 2016 to replace the driver and passenger airbag inflators.

According to Mitsubishi Vietnam, for some driver and passenger side airbag inflators, the catalyst (ammonium nitrate) inside the airbag inflator may be degraded due to the impact of temperature changes under humid climate conditions over a long period of use. Therefore, the inflator housing may rupture when the airbag is activated.

There will be 2,519 Pajero vehicles recalled in this campaign.

For the above reasons, to ensure safety for users, Mitsubishi Vietnam decided to replace the driver's and passenger's side airbag inflators with improved spare parts.

Specifically, 2,519 Mitsubishi Pajero Vietnam vehicles will be recalled from November 1, 2017 to October 31, 2019 for replacement. It is expected that the replacement time for the driver's airbag inflator is 30 minutes and the passenger airbag inflator is 108 minutes.

Also according to the recommendation of the Vietnam Register, in this recall campaign, there are 5 different types of Mitsubishi Pajero that must be re-inspected, so customers who are using these models should immediately take them to authorized dealers of Mitsubishi Vietnam to check and replace the front airbag inflator to ensure safety.
