Former Playboy model aspires to become Russian President

Katya Gordon wants to represent millions of Russian women who are raising children alone when she announced her candidacy for President.

Katya Gordon is a Russian journalist and activist.

"I decided to use my citizenship to run for the position of President of Russia," Mirror quoted Katya Gordon, a 37-year-old female journalist and social activist, as saying.

Katya, who posed nude for Russian Playboy in 2014, said she understood the issues women face because of her experience working in the legal system. The mother of two said she wanted to represent the millions of women in the country who are left to care for their children while their husbands shirk their responsibilities.

Katya shared that she wants to protect women's rights and the focus of her campaign will be mothers and children.

"There are too many single mothers in our country and no one cares about them," Katya said, stressing that she wanted to "speak for women whose rights are violated".

With the announcement, Katya will become a rival to 35-year-old TV presenter and social activist Ksenia Sobchak. Sobchak announced her candidacy for the Russian leadership on October 18. She has also posed for Playboy magazine and is currently the editor-in-chief of L'Officiel Russia.
