'Online' trial in Nghe An province

(Baonghean.vn) - The trial for drug trafficking was held online at connecting points of districts and towns in Nghe An province.

On the morning of October 31, the District People's Procuracy coordinated with the Tan Ky District People's Court to organize a trial to review the criminal case against Nguyen Van Dien (born in 1989, residing in Block 1, town, Do Luong district) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

According to the indictment, at 3:30 p.m. on June 8, 2017, in the yard of a boarding house in Block 8, Lat Town, Tan Ky District, Nguyen Van Dien sold 0.002 grams of synthetic drugs to Tran Giang Nam for 500,000 VND.

At 8:45 p.m. the same day, at the rented room, Dien continued to sell Tran Xuan Dong a package of synthetic drugs for 500,000 VND and was caught red-handed by Tan Ky District Police.

Searching Nguyen Van Dien's residence, the investigation agency seized 2 packages of synthetic drugs weighing 4.855 grams.

Previously, on November 27, 2015, Nguyen Van Dien was sentenced by the People's Court of Do Luong district to 5 months and 2 days in prison, but the time spent in temporary detention for the crime of "Illegal detention" was deducted, but his criminal record has not been cleared. Dien was a serious drug addict and was infected with HIV.

At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Nguyen Van Dien to 7 years and 3 months in prison.
