In all the gardens, people are busy picking ripe oranges. Compared to previous years, this year, due to the damage caused by two storms: No. 2 and No. 10, the orange yield has decreased but the price is still good. With an average selling price at the garden of 30,000 - 35,000 VND/kg, people have a revenue of over 400 million VND/ha of oranges for business.
It was early in the morning but the orange garden of Ms. Dang Thi Nham's family in Thang Tam village, Dinh Son commune was bustling with traders coming to buy. Ms. Nham shared: In 2011, her family invested in planting over 5 sao of oranges with 320 trees. The entire orange garden was planted with Van Du oranges because this is an easy-to-grow, easy-to-care-for orange variety with a stable selling price. This year, the estimated yield is about 5 tons. With the selling price at the garden of about 35,000 VND/kg, Ms. Nham's family earned over 150 million VND after deducting expenses.

Ms. Ho Thi Thanh's family orange garden in Thang Tam village, Dinh Son commune has an area of 4 sao, this year Ms. Thanh started harvesting oranges from mid-October. Ms. Thanh said: This year, the weather is not favorable, due to the influence of storms No. 2 and No. 10, so many oranges have fallen off, so the yield has also decreased. However, with the characteristics of Bai Phu oranges, they have a sweet taste, large, juicy orange segments, yellow orange flesh, fresh and rich, so the price of oranges is high, traders come to buy them on site. Currently, with 4 sao of oranges, more than 200 trees, it is estimated that the family will earn over 100 million VND.
Currently, Dinh Son commune has 60 hectares of oranges grown by 106 households. Bai Phu oranges are mainly grown in the Van Du, Xa Doai long vang and V2 varieties. These are orange varieties suitable for the climate and soil conditions of this land.
This year, due to heavy rains, households growing Bai Phu oranges in Dinh Son have suffered considerable damage. Most orange gardens have lost 20-30% of their fruit. Despite the loss in yield, prices are still good thanks to the reputation of the Bai Phu orange brand. Currently, each hectare of oranges yields an average of about 18 tons, bringing farmers a revenue of over 400 million VND/ha.

Mr. Dinh Viet Hanh - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dinh Son Commune said: In recent years, Bai Phu oranges grown in Dinh Son Commune have established a stable position in the market with good quality, very popular with consumers. Every year, from the end of October to the beginning of November, Bai Phu orange growers start harvesting the main orange season.
Implementing the project to restore the Bai Phu orange brand, in 2017, Dinh Son commune supported 2 billion VND for 40 households to invest in developing orange trees from the farmer support fund. According to the local planning, by 2020, over 200 hectares of Bai Phu oranges will be developed. Dinh Son commune also built a plan to register the "Bai Phu" trademark in the Vinh orange brand, thereby protecting the production area and increasing the income value for the people./.
