Arrested teacher for cheating on job, embezzling hundreds of millions of dong

On November 2, Dak Song District Police (Dak Nong Province) announced that they had decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain Nguyen Hoang Nam for fraud and property appropriation.

Subject Nam (born in 1972, residing in Nam N'jang commune, Dak Song district) was a former teacher at Dak Song district's Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

According to initial information, since 2015, while working at Dak Song Ethnic Minority Boarding School, Mr. Nam claimed to everyone that he had a wide network of connections. In April 2015, Nguyen Hoang Nam agreed to run errands for Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh (born in 1991, Dak Sor commune, Krong No district), who had just graduated from university with a major in education and was unemployed.

Nam promised to get Lanh a job as a teacher at a secondary school in Dak Song district for 200 million VND. After receiving the full amount, Nam promised that by August 2015, Lanh would be able to teach, but by the end of 2016, Lanh still had no job.

Using the same trick, in August 2015, Mr. Nam agreed to help Mr. Bui Lao’s daughter (born in 1950, residing in Thuan An commune, Dak Mil district), Bui Thi Hong Chi, who had just graduated from nursing college, for 175 million VND. However, by mid-2016, Nam still could not find a job for Mr. Lao’s daughter.

Suspecting that they had been scammed, the victims repeatedly went to Nam’s house to demand their money back but were unsuccessful. The victims’ families then filed a complaint with the police against Nam for fraud and property appropriation.

Currently, the police are continuing to investigate and expand the case.
