On the morning of November 3, Mr. Uong Chu Luu, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, announced the results of inspection and supervision in Bac Kan province.
From 2011 to March 2017, the State Audit conducted 13 audits in the province, discovered economic violations, and recommended the recovery of nearly 11 billion VND.
Inspectors at all levels in the province have conducted more than 170 socio-economic inspections. Thereby, they discovered corruption and economic violations and recommended the recovery of more than VND50 billion and more than 20,000 square meters of land.
From 2011 to March 2017, the investigation agencies at two levels in the province discovered and investigated 121 cases and incidents related to corruption and economics, of which 109 cases with 193 defendants were prosecuted.
Mr. Nguyen Van Du, Secretary of Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee, said that the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee always has strong directions to strictly handle economic violations and corruption cases, especially prominent and complicated cases that attract public attention.
The limitation of Bac Kan province is that some Party committees have not paid due attention to the leadership and direction of detecting and handling corruption and economic cases; have not promptly issued documents directing the coordination between functional agencies in detecting, investigating, prosecuting and trying corruption and economic cases. The post-inspection handling has not been completed, and the inspection conclusions are still pending for a long time. The recovery of damaged assets in economic cases is still low.
“The Standing Committee determined that the fight against corruption must be long-term, persistent, and determined. The province will accept the conclusions and issue an action plan to address and resolve shortcomings and weaknesses in the work of preventing and fighting corruption in the past time,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Du.
Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, affirmed that the fight against corruption is a battle that requires determination, perseverance and persistence of the whole country.
Bac Kan province has many difficulties, the socio-economy is not yet developed, there are no major corruption cases. However, even if small economic cases occur, they will have a big impact on the people and officials in the province. In recent times, the province has focused on directing and thoroughly implementing the Party's directives; promptly handling a number of corruption and economic cases in accordance with Directive 15 of the Politburo.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu also pointed out some limitations of Bac Kan province in the work of preventing and fighting corruption; at the same time, he suggested that the province further strengthen its attention and direction to improve the effectiveness of the fight against corruption as well as handle violations to strengthen people's trust./.
