On November 5, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Tan Uyen District (Binh Duong) issued a decision to prosecute the case, temporarily detaining Nguyen Minh Tien (35 years old, residing in Tan Uyen town, Binh Duong), Hoang Van Tuan (28 years old, residing in Binh Phuoc) and Nguyen Phu My (24 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to investigate and clarify the acts of illegal detention and extortion of property.

According to the police: In 2014, Mr. Nguyen Van Nho and Tien (both residing in Vinh Tan commune, Tan Uyen town) played a hui together. Later, Mr. Nho failed to pay Tien. On October 21, 2017, Tien hired Tuan to help collect the debt. After receiving 15 million VND as payment, Tuan invited My to go to Mr. Nho's house to collect the money.

When they saw Mr. Nho tapping rubber alone, the subjects approached and used sticks and electric batons to attack and capture Mr. Nho. They forced Mr. Nho to call his relatives to bring 100 million VND to ransom him; at the same time, they forced Mr. Nho to write a loan note for 200 million VND. When the subjects received the money, they were caught red-handed by the police and all the evidence was confiscated.
