Nghe An first time planting purple cardamom
(Baonghean.vn)- Purple cardamom is known as a valuable medicinal plant, commonly used in Oriental medicine. For the first time in Nghe An, purple cardamom was piloted in Que Phong district.

With an area of 1 hectare, Pu Hoat Nature Reserve is currently planting more than 7,000 purple cardamom trees. This is the first time the purple cardamom variety has been piloted in Nghe An. The model is a concretization of the Project on conservation and development of medicinal plants in the area implemented by the People's Committee of Que Phong district.

The purple cardamom variety was imported from the Center for Plant Application Research of the University of Forestry and planted under the forest canopy in Na Chang village, Tien Phong commune, in the management and protection area of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve. The model was supported with varieties by the People's Committee of Que Phong district, and the Youth Union members of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve were assigned the task of planting, caring for and protecting it.

It is expected that after 2-3 years of planting and care, purple cardamom will be harvested. Its seeds have high medicinal properties and are widely used in Oriental medicine. If successful, Que Phong district and Pu Hoat Nature Reserve will replicate the model, creating more livelihoods for local people.
