At around 6:30 a.m., many Vietnamese and international reporters lined up outside the Presidential Palace, where the official welcoming ceremony for US President Donald Trump was taking place, to wait for security checks. The weather was chilly and foggy.
The welcoming ceremony is scheduled to take place around 9:00 AM. According to the plan, after the ceremony, President Trump will hold talks with President Tran Dai Quang, participate in the signing of documents, and hold a press conference. Following that, he will pay a courtesy call on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and meet with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Around 1:00 PM, he will board his plane to leave Vietnam.
After arriving in Hanoi on the afternoon of November 11th, the US President attended a reception hosted by President Tran Dai Quang. Speaking at the reception, he said he was "very honored" to be in Vietnam, and described Vietnam as "a marvel of the world."

Mr. Trump is on his first trip to Asia since taking office, which lasts until November 14th. Vietnam is his fourth stop, after Japan, South Korea, and China.
US Secretary of State Tillerson said that Vietnam was President Trump's longest stop, affirming that the US values its friendly relations and cooperation with Vietnam, and that President Trump's visit is significant, contributing to further strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
