Honda CR-V 7 seats highest price 1.1 billion VND in Vietnam

The new generation of the crossover has 3 versions E, G and L, all using a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine and CVT gearbox.

Honda Vietnam introduced the 5th generation CR-V in the coastal city of Nha Trang. It has been 3 years since the City appeared, the Japanese car company has just launched a product. Previous models such as Accord, Civic often appear together in auto shows.

CR-V is Honda's new hope in the battle in the hot growing segment in Vietnam, which is also a global trend. The biggest influence on the CR-V development strategies comes from the import tax policy when in 2018, the tax on cars imported from ASEAN will be 0% compared to 30% in 2017. Therefore, the new CR-V is imported from Thailand. The production capacity of the Honda Vietnam factory will give way to City.

Besides the imported origin, nOther important changes of the new CR-V are the revised rear design; 7-seat interior; engine1.5 litersturbocharger, CVT transmission and a host of new comfort and safety features.

The 7-seat interior is a factor that many customers are waiting for. The dimensions of the new CR-V are 4,584 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,679 mm high. The car is lower than the old version, about 30 mm wider. The wheelbase is 2,662 mm, about 40 mm longer than the old version.

With measurements that are not too different, the 7-seat version of the CR-V is in a 5+2 configuration, meaning the last two seats are suitable for children. Adults sit with slightly limited knee space. In return, the second row has 50 mm more legroom.

The most notable feature of the exterior design is that the 2018 CR-V no longer has the humpback tail that some people praise and others criticize like before. The new generation creates a more dynamic and youthful taillight style. The tail is tapered downwards, the small taillights are deeply embedded in the D-pillar, making the car look longer and smoother, no longer bulky.

The front of the car has also been redesigned, with tweaked headlights, grille, fog lights, and front bumper. The lines on both sides of the hood are also raised to increase strength. The interior upgrades are also masculine but more sophisticated. The center console is expanded, the air-conditioning vents are raised, and the small screen on top is replaced by air-conditioning vents. The dashboard also has horizontal lines and wood added to create a luxurious feel.

The fifth-generation CR-V is a completely new car compared to the old version. Under the body, both the engine and transmission are also new.

The car has 3 versions: E, G and L, removing the 2.0 and 2.4 engines of the old version, and also removing the 5-speed automatic transmission. The engine and transmission are identical to the new Civic but the power parameters have changed.The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine combined with a CVT gearbox produces 188 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 240 Nm. On the Civic, this engine only has 177 horsepower.

The interior design is more sophisticated.

The three options E, G and L differ only in equipment content. The top-end L version has a full LED lighting system, a 7-inch infotainment screen, Apple Car and Android Auto connectivity. Automatic air conditioning with vents for both the second and third rows. 8-speaker sound system. New features include a panoramic sunroof, automatic rain sensor and electric trunk.

Driver confidence-boosting functions include AHA to assist drivers with understeer, cruise control, integrated paddle shifters on the steering wheel, electronic handbrake, and red light brake hold assist function.

Safety technology adds a driver drowsiness warning system like on luxury cars. Japanese car manufacturers do not integrate technologies that are popular in Vietnam such as collision warning and blind spot warning because the parent company's policy has not been widely applied to some Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam.

The basic functions are still available including ABS, EBD, BA brakes; VSA electronic balance, 3-angle rear camera. CR-V also has an automatic door locking mode when the key is out of the sensor range. If the driver holds the key and walks away from the car within 2 meters within 2 seconds.

With significant changes on the CR-V but imported from ASEAN with 0% tax rate, Honda set the expected price for the highest version L at nearly 1.1 billion, not yet announced the price of the E and G versions. Honda left the expected price, not the listed price because the price can change slightly when delivered to customers. The car will be delivered to customers from early 2018.

This price is about 58 million lower than the previous highest version 2.4. The highest version of the rival CX-5 is currently priced at 919 million. The new generation of CX-5 will be launched in December in Vietnam.
